Learning Experience #2

Dear students,

After having finished microteaching #4, #5, and #6, please answer the following questions:

  1. What was the grammar point or rule that you remember the most? Please specify the group who taught it and provide three examples of its application.
  2.  What were five teaching lessons you learned out of these three groups' teaching?

Remember that answers cannot be exactly the same, since we are reflecting out of three microteaching groups and we all learn differently.

If your answers are not complete or they are copied from one of your classmates, you will not get the points.

Deadline: Mon., Dec. 03rd, at 11:59pm.

31 comments:

  1. Subject-Verb Agreement
The importance is to look carefully the agreement between subject and verb.
    1. She reads the newspaper.
    They read the newspaper.
    2. There are six chairs.
    There is a chair.
    3. He have arrived at 6 o'clock.

    Singular and Plural of Nouns
I remembered that there are some nouns that does not need to add "s" at the end of the words to make them plural.
    1. Pedro has many fish in his restaurant.
    2. Ana bought a new pair of shorts.
    3. Maria lost her sunglasses in the store.

    Word Forms
The suffix in each word can change the meaning of it. There are suffixes for nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.
    1. My "friend" helped me to move to a new apartment. (noun)
    2. They were very "friendly" with us. (adjectiive)
    3. That behavior "modify" their relationship. (verb)

    Teaching Lessons:
    1. As teachers we have to manage the topic so in that way we can answer any question to our students.
    2. We have to be prepared for any inconvenient that can appear with the materials we were supposed to use in class.
    3. We have to speak louder to keep the attention.
    4. Any topic can be more interesting when all the class participate.
    5. We have to be punctual every single day in order to start on time.

  2. Hello.
    I am Esther
    Group 4. Subject verb agreement.

The grammatical rule that I remember from this group is that the subjects and the verbs must agree with each other, which is singular and plural. If a subject is singular, I learned that his verb must also be singular and that if the subject is plural the verb must also be plural.

    Example:
Singular: The dog chases the cat.
Plural: The dogs chase the cat.

Something very important about this grammar rule is that it does not apply to the verbs used in the past simple.

    Example:
Singular : the girl talked to me.
Plural : the girls talked to me.

This other rule is very important because this rule does not apply to any other verb that helps such as: can, could, should, could .

    Example:
Singular: the girl could talk to me.
Plural: the girls could talk to me.

    Group 5
    Singular and plural of nouns

The grammatical rule that I remember most in this topic is that most singular nouns need an "S" at the end to become plural.

    Example: Alien - Aliens
    Taco- tacos
    Skateboard- skateboards

Another very important rule is that singular nouns that end in s, ss, sh, ch, x, z, need an S at the end to become plural.

    Example: glass - glasses
    Bush- bushes
    Octopus- octopuses

Some nouns are the same in both their singular and plural forms.

Example : So I can have one deer or two deer- or one sheep or two shepp.

There is something very important that this group mentioned and it was the irregular plural forms.

    Example:
    Mouse- Mice
    Person- People
    Child- children
    Tooth- teeth
    Woman- women
    Foot- feet.

    Group 6
    Word forms.
a grammar rule that I learned was that adjectives are formed from nouns and that others are formed from verbs this topic was something difficult to understand I almost did not understand it .

    Example:

    The sky was a spectacle.
The sky was full of color.
    The color was red.

    Teaching lessons.
    1. To study the subject very well looking for and being informed in several sources of information will help us to be more prepared when teaching

    2. Having several days of preparation will help us feel stress-free.

    3. You always have to be prepared to answer any question that the listeners can ask us.

    4. Getting listeners to participate is a way to keep them attentive to the topic.

    5. Be friendly when speaking we will be happy to listen to those who pay attention to us.

  3. Hi I'm Osiris Calix

    Subject- Verb Agreement

We must keep in mind that the subject and the verb must always coincide.

    example:
    *Peter doesn't like vegetables.
    *I don't understand the assignment.
*The clothes are too small for me.

    Singulars and Plurals of Nouns

The grammatical rule that I remember most can be with the irregular verbs to which they do not lose their original form when speaking in plural, like Fish.
    Examples:

    1. Pedro has Many fish in his restaurant
    2. We saw a los of Deer at the park
    3. Ana bought new pair of shorts at her cousin's Store.

    Word Forms

When we speak of Word form we must know the suffixes that need the nouns, verbs, adjective and adverbs, and that this totally changes the meaning of the word.
    Examples:

    Noun: Analisis
    Verb: Analize
    Adjective: Analytical
    Adverb: Analytically

The 5 lessons I learned were:

    1. Always know how to explain the activity that is going to be done.

    2. Use of posters that illustrate or explain about the subject, helps a lot to the understanding of the classmates.

    3. The funniest activities are in which the student is more motivated to participate.

    4. Take easy and short exercises due to time.

    5. Good management is vocabulary

  4. 1. What was the grammar point or rule that you remember the most? Please specify the group who taught it and provide three examples of its application.

The Grammar point that I remember most is about Subject- Verb agreement of group #4
They taught about the following aspects :
☆ A sentence must have a Subject -Verb agreement to give a clear message.
☆ When in formal writing, use verb in third person; the verb must go with a final "s" or "es".
☆Also I remember that collective nouns can take either a singular or plural verb. And will depend on the noun, or the variety of English as American or British English.

    2. What were five teaching lessons you learned out of these three groups' teaching?
    I learned about:
    1) The pronunciation is an essential aspect in English to deliver a good message.
    2) Grammar is embedded in different activities focusing in the four skills.
3)Also a word can be a noun, verb, adjective or an adverb.
    4) The word "some"uses a plural verb.
    5) provide more examples about the grammar point to give a better understanding.

  5. Subject Verb Agreement Group # 4

This was the subject of which I expounded without, therefore, clearly understanding the rules of the subject in its singular and plural form. The use of the conditions and the relative clauses. Some of its applications that we use are:
    - Subject Verb Agreement means the conjugation of the ver matches the subject (e.g.I, you, they) of the sentence.

Examples: A singular subject must have a singular verb and a plural subject must have a plural verb.

Examples: - I am at school
                       - We are at school

Singular and Plural Nouns Group # 5

At the beginning of the presentation, the classmates did some prior knowledge exercises and explained some examples using the form of singular and plural nouns.
    Examples: - Car.     cars
                       - Dog.     dogs
Many nouns ending with a consonant +y change the "Y" to "i" and just dad "es"
    Examples:
    -Church.  Churches
    -Bus.       Buses
    -Dish.      Dishes

    Word Form: Group # 6

I liked this presentation because they explained very well.
The words beautify, beautiful and beautifully are the verb, adjective and adverb forms of the noun beauty, but they are not interchangeable when is used in a sentence.

    Examples:
    - Difference. differently
    - Succed succesfully

    Common Suffixes:

-Ful... full or tending or liable to.
    - ile... tending to, capable of.

    Example:
    -Beauty.... Beautiful
    - Attract... Attractive

    Teaching Lessons:
It is important when studying a topic to learn the grammar rules so as not to have possible confusions.

Speaking and listening  are very important in the activities we do must always be incorporated and these groups used as much as they talk and listen.

The images and flashcards they used were very effective for the learning of the class.

They got the attention of the class in the best way and is doing a previous knowledge exercises.

The collective work they did was evident and even when they were teaching they helped each other.

  6. hello I'm Kellin Cruz

The grammar rule that I remember is about word choise group #1, because we can not use an informal word or expression has been used in formal writing.

We can not use informal word when we are emailing to our univresity professor or when we are sending a formal letter maybe for job or school.

INFORMAL: she’s decided to accept the job.

FORMAL: she has decided to accept the job.

INFORMAL: I donʼt believe that the results are accurate.

FORMAL: The results are not believed to be accurate.

INFORMAL:The improvements canʼt be introduced due to funding restrictions.

FORMAL: Improvements cannot be introduced due to funding restrictions.

    TEACHING LESSON

1.- As teacher we have to prepare our class on time.
2.- As teachers we need to have enough knowledgeable in their subject.
3.- As teachers we need to use teaching strategies and also make learning fun.

    Subject. Verb Agreement
    Group #4

It is important to carefully identify what is between subject and verb conjugate each and see how to use them in plural and singular.

    Examples
    1. The dog chases the cat
    2. The dogs chase the cat
    3. The girl talked to me

    Singular and plural nouns
    Group #5

What I could learn more in this topic is that for the singular one does not use an S at the end and to become plural they need an S at the end.

    Examples
    1. Cat-cats
    2. Chair-chairs
    3. Book-books

    Word form
    Group #6

What I could understand is that many words exist as nouns, verbs or adjectives and change when prefixes or suffixes are added.

    Examples
    1. Beauty
    2. Embellish
    3. Beautiful

    The 5 lessons of teaching

Usage - Subject-Verb Agreement Subjects and verbs must AGREE with one another in number (singular or plural). Thus, if a subject is singular, its verb must also be singular; if a subject is plural, its verb must also be plural. In present tenses, nouns and verbs form plurals in opposite ways:

My dog always growls at the postal carrier.

    Basketballs roll across the floor.

    I don't understand the assignment.

These clothes are too small for me.

    Peter doesn't like vegetables.

    group # 5 Word Forms

Words forms are the different ways a word can exist in the context of a language. Many words exist as nouns, verbs or adjectives and change when prefixes or suffixes are added.

For example, the words beautify, beautiful and beautifully are the verb, adjective and adverb forms of the noun beauty, but they are not interchangeable when used in a sentence.

    Here are some word forms:

    beauty

    beautify

    beautiful

    Prepositions
They were very dynamic, which made the class not boring. There was a lot of peer participation and that's very important.
The classmates explained very well and did several activities
-One of the rules for using prepositions is that these words must be followed by nouns.
-The classmates taught us the types of prepositions, which include prepositions of time, prepositions of place and prepositions of direction.
-We use preposition a followed by a consonant sound
    Examples:
-Please put the vase on the table.
-I received a present from Yannet.
    -The class begins on Monday.

    We have to:
-Prepare well to teach because you do not know what kind of student you can have in class.
-Know how to manage time well.
-Look for information before giving the class, to know what subject is the one that will teach and how to arrive prepared.
-Speak loudly so that all students listen, be dynamic and do not get nervous.

  13. Hello I am Ana Bety Mejia.
1.I think the groups made good job, as micro-teaching is good idea to practice to get experience with this. It is little time for each teacher.
I learned that the prepositions have to be write in the correct place in the sentence if it has been incorrectly used or no used when needed. We have to be carefully with the use when we can look up the adjectives and nouns.

2.With word choice we use word that can not be complete or the subject or predicate and the verb do not fit together and we have to chose or rewrite the subject or predicate again until to get the correct form.

    3. Writing article first we have to determine if the nouns is countable or uncountable and clasify them get the correct article if need to use it.

I remember That they said that all will depend the context and if it is formal o informal we must decide what word you should Use, I loved their exposition was great as all the expositions jeje
examples are: Arquimides did a letter (example) and we had to be aware that that even though the word that you use depends on the context, also I remember prepositions, subject verb agreement, relative clauses also.

  19. My name is Carmen Sauceda this topic is really important for me, because I have a lot of mistakes with Singular and plural nouns Group # 5.. This is embarrassing but it happens to me, when I write essays or sentences sometimes I write Childrens or Womans it is terrible gramatical mistakes i know, but with this microteaching I learn a lot of gramatical points, for example: Some nouns have irregular plural forms like:
    Child- children
    life- lives
    foot- feet
    knife- knive
    woman- women
What were five teaching lessons you learned out of these three groups' teaching?
    1. Remove the pain to speak, in the future we will be English teachers we can not be afraid or sorry to be in front of students, this is a great experience that we acquired so that we look at what we will face as teachers of English.
2.We have to learn to work in group, I know that many of us struggle but it is a skill that we must develop in each class.
3.Always give clear and precise instructions of what the student should do in the class, ask if they understood the subject or instructions, pass reviewing that everyone is working, praise the student if he did his job and correct in an ethical way the student that had an error.
4The correct use of Didactic Materials, if we have sheets we must explore them well, if we use worksheets let's make sure everyone does it, if it's a game, let's try to get everyone involved.
5.And finally we have to have love for our profession, we can walk with millions of problems over but being in front of our students everything is left behind. We acquired this experience, as it is to teach a subject in English, it is difficult to take work but at the end of the day you are satisfied because you share your knowledge

  20. hello I'm Elmer Alvarez
In the topic taught by the group number 5. I leaned about singular and plural. you can think, this is a easy topic but, we have to be careful in the excepcions and the irregular plural, inasmuch as we sometimes comet severals mistakes while talk.

to convert word we have to look at the end of the word:
    1. if the word ends with: ch, x, s, sh: we have to add "es" in the end
    box: boxes
    bus: buses
    peach: peaches

    2. if the word end with "Y": we eliminate the "Y"end add "ies"
    lady: ladies
    baby: babies
    city: cities

    3. we have to be careful with the irregular verbs, in these we do not have a pattern to follow and we have to memorize them.
    man: men
    mouse: mice
    teeth: tooth
    feet: foot

What were five teaching lessons you learned out of these three groups' teaching?
    1. punctuality, they start on time and that is one of the most important thing when you teach, be own of the time.
    2. be confidence in front of the class
    3. speaking clearly
    4. look for another way when something do not happen as you wanted
    5. correct use of the didactic material.

    Subject verbs agremmet
The person and number of the subject of the clause determine the person and number of the verb of the clause. This is called subject–verb agreement or concord:
    Example
    We often go to Edinburgh.
    Not: We often goes
    Are you ready?
    Not: Is you ready?
They don’t do enough art at school.
    Not: They doesn't do..
    Singular and plural
singular and plural nouns are easy to spot. When a noun indicates only one, it is a singular noun. When a noun indicates more than one, it is plural.
    Example
    Boat – boats
    House – houses
    Cats – cats
    Word forms
Words forms are the different ways a word can exist in the context of a language. Many words exist as nouns, verbs or adjectives and change when prefixes or suffixes are added.
    Example
    creator
    create
    creative
    Teaching lesson
    1. Understand, get and clarify information that i already had.
    2. Thanks to the explanations I was able to understand many thing

Subject- Verb agreement Group #4 I learned that we have to be really careful how we use a verb, subject, conditional... If we know how to use each grammar point se are going to have a nice and clear conversation with everyone.

#4 Subject- Verb agreement. This a big topic because it has a lot of grammar points. Some of them are the using of singular and plural nouns, verbs in third person, conditional, relative clauses...Examples -She has a red car. Family is very important in our lives. -My mother is 50 years old, who lives in Paris.

#5 Singular and plural nouns. This is a really nice topic because I sometimes get confuse in the irregular forms. I had a review with this theme. Example - Apple/ Apples - Mouse/ Mice -Glass/ Glasses -Deer/ Deer

#6 Suffix. For me this is a very complicate topic to learn because a word take different places in a sentence, it can be a adverb, noun, adjective... Example -The animator of the party is a clown. - The animatedly clown today is sad. The party is animate.

I learned that I have to improve more my Grammar skill. I thought that I was better but, I need to improve it.
When we work in groups we need to have more patience because every single person has different thoughts or ideas that maybe we are not going to agree.
In this class I learned that we have to give our best in a microteaching and to do a good pacification to teach.
As students we have to go to class every day because in that way we learn new things that we can teach to our future students.
I learned some techniques of my classmates and my teacher to teach in a class with my students in a future.

  31. The speed of website duplication and plagiarism tester applications to check a paper for plagiarism relies primarily on the language rules written as codes into the software and secondly on the search engine it uses. If the right language rules are programmed into it and if it's instructed to use the right search engine, then accuracy and speed are optimized. Add to that a massive volume of content stored in a database which is also accessed by the tool, and you have the most reliable tool to check for plagiarism. 抄襲比對
